Season 2007/8

Our concerts provide a real opportunity to enjoy the highest quality live music and see both established musicians and rising stars at close quarters. We feature solo piano, string quartets, brass ensembles, wind groups, duos and trios in varying combinations. The music itself is just as varied, from classical to the most contemporary: in our last concert we featured a world premiere of a work for flute, oboe and piano.

We take the greatest trouble in identifying and signing our artistes, with a particular interest in musicians who are in the early stages of their career but already have an impressive record behind them. They will have taken top prizes in their colleges and performed with leading orchestras both in the UK and abroad. For example, last season we featured the seventeen year old clarinetist Julian Bliss, who appeared at the Queen's 80th birthday concert at the Proms. A few years earlier we had Freddy Kempf, winner of the BBC's Young Musician of the Year and now appearing on concert platforms throughout the world.

In addition to our six-concert series we organise regular outings to the opera and ballet in London - all you have to do is get on the coach.

And all this right in the centre of Radlett. Nearly all our concerts are held in the newly re-seated Radlett Centre with its attractive bar, and where nearby evening parking is easy and free. You can just turn up at the door for an individual evening or join the club and receive a discount for the whole season.

As is always said, there is nothing like live music: the sound is better, the atmosphere uplifting, watching international performers so close to home adds a completely new dimension. And of course it is enormously encouraging to the musicians themselves to play before an appreciative audience.

Our first concert, on 11th October, features the young pianist Yevgeny Sudbin who has already been hailed by The Telegraph as "potentially one of the greatest pianists of the 21st Century". It's a real coup to have booked him and I do hope you will join us for this very special evening.
