ROSALIND VENTRIS, viola. Born in 1989, Rosalind won a scholarship to the Purcell School and
then went on to read music at Cambridge, after which she continued with post-graduate studies at the Guildhall
School. Performing regularly as soloist and chamber musician, she has played at the top UK venues and increasingly
throughout Europe. Her concerto debut was at St. John's Smith Square in 2007 and earlier this year gave the world
première of a work for solo viola written for her by Edwin Roxburgh at the Royal Festival Hall.
DANIEL TONG, piano. Described as a “complete pianist”, Daniel Tong's recitals and concerto
appearances are always memorable and illuminating. He enjoys a varied career, performing regularly at Britain's
major concert halls, festivals and on BBC Radio 3. Last season Daniel performed Beethoven's
Emperor Concerto at St. Martin-in-the-Fields, and launched 'Beethoven unravelled' – a series of lectures and
recitals. He founded and directs the Wye Valley Chamber Music Festival and is Co-Artistic Director of the
Winchester Chamber Music Festival.
Please note: tickets for non-members for this concert are only available at the Karl König
Hall door, with no advance-booking facility.
